The 10th International Navigation Forum opened its doors at Expocentre
The delegates of the 10th International Navigation Forum discussed the development of satellite navigation technologies, first of all, the Russian GLONASS system and their widespread use in different areas. The Forum opened its doors at the Navitech 2016 international exhibition for navigation systems, technology and services at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
One of the first sections at the Forum was Satellite Navigation: Space Systems, Functional Supplements, and International Cooperation. It was moderated by CEO of non-profit organization GLONASS/GSNN Forum Association Vladimir Klimov.
He said that nowadays the GLONASS orbit group consisted of 28 space vehicles. He informed that it was planned to launch another satellite on May, 29. According to him “there are eight space vehicles and appropriate broadcasting equipment. That is why the orbit group will be kept at full strength in the nearest future”.
“In addition to that, we are upgrading the GLONASS system now, making new space vehicles, and improving performance of both equipment and the system”, said Vladimir Klimov.
On the Forum first day the sections were devoted to navigation technologies in transport, application of information, communication and unmanned technologies in agricultural sector, using high-accuracy navigation in different economic sectors, and others.
