NAVITECH-EXPO’2009: Navigation Systems, Technologies and Services
On 12-15 May Pavilion 8 of Expocentre Fairgrounds will accommodate an international exhibition and convention project ‘Navigation Systems, Technologies and Services’ comprising two important events: the 3rd International Satellite Navigation Forum and the Navitech-Expo’2009 International Exhibition. The project is carried out by Expocentre and Profi-T-Centrey with support from the Russian Federal Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS), the Association of Designers, Manufacturers and Users of Equipment and Applications Based on Global Navigation Space Systems “GLONASS/GNSS Forum”.
The launch pad for the new project has been provided by the Svyaz-Expocomm International Exhibition, the largest trade event in Russia and Eastern Europe for telecommunications equipment, control systems, information technology and communication services. The first ever display showcasing GLONASS was arranged at Svyaz-Expocomm’2007. In 2008 the Exhibition offered the Navigation Satellite Systems feature area which was supported by all dedicated government agencies and became a success. It follows logically that this year the 3rd International Satellite Navigation Forum and the Navitech-Expo’2009 will run concurrently with the 21st edition of the Svyaz-Expocomm International Exhibition.
The Global Navigation Satellite System GLONASS is one of the main projects of the Russian high tech industry. Mr. Urlichich, Chief Designer of the Global Navigation System GLONASS and Chairman of the Council of Association GLONASS/GNSS-Forum, noted that “the Russian system GLONASS as one of the two operating global navigation systems attracts increasing attention of potential consumers both in our country and abroad”. The growing interest in the GLONASS System is confirmed by the quality and number of delegates to the annual International Satellite Navigation Forum, which will be held for the third time. The Forum has really become the focal industry event in Russia, providing a platform for the participants of the navigation market to share their achievements and gain new business contacts, which is crucial for the development of their business.
The key objective of the International Satellite Navigation Forum is to keep the wide Russian and foreign audience informed about the innovative satellite navigation technology. The Forum will discuss the whole range of issues relating to the use of navigation services in Russia and in the world. Special attention will be paid to the Russian satellite navigation system GLONASS and various aspects of its application in Russia.
Considering the wishes of the industry players and the growing interest of public in this rapidly developing sector the decision has been taken to co-locate the International Satellite Navigation Forum and the annual specialized exhibition Navitech-Expo.
The exhibition will present leading Russian and foreign designers and manufacturers of navigation equipment and software, including mapping applications; it will demonstrate the benefits of using navigation technologies and services in various sectors of economy and business.
Navitech-Expo’2009 will host over 50 companies from Germany, Lithuania, Netherlands, Russia and France.
Among the exhibitors will be NAVTEQ, Trimble Holdings GmbH, Almaz-Antey Air Defense Systems Corporation, Aero-Kosmicheskiye Tekhnologii, Vobis-Computer, Izhevskiy Radiozavod, MKB Kompas, NAVIS Research Design Lab., M2M-Telematics, Russian Institute of Radio Navigation and Time, Transas and others.
On the show floor of nearly 1,000 sq. m the exhibition will put on display personal navigation devices, mapping and navigation software, navigation systems, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), road traffic monitoring and control systems (equipment and software), rail traffic monitoring and control systems, automatic vehicle location equipment (AVL equipment), security systems, logistics systems, Location Based Service (LBS service), surveying and geodetic equipment, GPS/GLONASS OEM modules, radio components, navigation signal simulation technology, differential correction system, inertial and satellite navigation systems and many others.
The global market of navigation equipment is booming, it offers navigation services to a growing number of users in many fields of activity. The development of the national navigation system is very important for Russia’s economy, defense and security. Navitech-Expo’2009 will help to promote the GLONASS system to the Russian market; it will enable Russian manufacturers to present a wide array of their modern navigation equipment and services; and it is a great opportunity for them to generate new business.
