Sviaz 2022 Forum has become a significant event of the conference programme of Russian Week of High Technologies 2022 held at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The Plenary Session on Communications Infrastructure Development as the Basis of Technological Sovereignty of Russia opened the forum.

The event was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and RBC, and
supported by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education.

The event’s moderators were Deputy Chairman of the state Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Chairman of the NTI Expo Organising Committee Vladimir Kononov, and a RBC host Anna Gara.

Dmitry Ugnivenko, Director of the Department of Infrastructure Projects Implementation at the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, in his speech described the state support measures provided by the Ministry of Digital Development in regional development. In particular, he noted that the main support is an inseparable continuation of those infrastructure projects that the state has been actively developing over the past years. "In three years, we have completed quite substantial projects to connect more than 75 thousand socially important facilities across the country to eliminate the digital divide. Our task at the moment is to continue the build-up of 2,000 infrastructure projects by the state. The Ministry is doing everything to ensure that those external factors that affect the telecommunications industry do not slow down these structural projects. We continue to implement them," said Dmitry Ugnivenko.

Alexey Samarin, Head of Telecommunications Directorate of Moscow IT Department, continued the topic. Speaking about how the city can support the telecom industry in the current environment, he noted: "One of the problems faced by the IT industry is increasing costs of operating equipment, buying new equipment, creating new networks. Communications are the driver of the city economy. The city, in turn, always pays increased attention to the industry. We try to help operators as much as possible and provide access to urban infrastructure. Moscow is one of the leaders in terms of availability of communication systems: low tariffs, availability of all types of services, high connection speed and much more. We try to reduce administrative barriers by offering our solutions to operators to work in the city.

The participants of the plenary session discussed the main trends in the telecom industry, development prospects for digitalisation of the economy, the course for Russian software localisation and import substitution, and other important topics. Alexander Osadchuk, Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Russian Ministry of Defence, Ekaterina Solntseva, Digitalisation Director of Rosatom State Corporation, Gulnara Khasyanova, General Director of the Telecommunication Technologies Consortium and CEO of Micron AO, Renat Lashin, Executive Director of the Products Association “Russian Software”, Vitaly Mankevich, President of RASPP, representatives of Rostelecom, MTS and heads of IT companies took part in the discussion.

Today, the Thematic Session on Prospects for Cooperation with Foreign Partners was held as part of the Sviaz 2022 Forum. Representatives of the Moscow innovation cluster, heads of foreign centres and directors of Russian companies touched upon the issues of ensuring uninterrupted supply of IT and telecom equipment, development of international partnership in innovation, models of interaction of knowledge-intensive companies in the international arena in information and communication technologies and telemedicine, prospects of Russia and China cooperation in IT industry antimonopoly regulation.

The Sviaz 2022 Forum will also feature three thematic sessions: Cloud Technology and Solutions, Breakthrough Technologies to Safeguard the Telecom and IT Industries, State and Prospects of the Data Centre Industry Development.
