The 15th International Navigation Forum

The 15th International Navigation Forum invites you to participate in the Sphere Congress, which will be held as part of the Forum with the support of Roscosmos State Corporation.

The Congress is being held for the second time. Like last year, it will combine events dedicated to the implementation of the federal project on the comprehensive development of space information technologies Sphere, the development of domestic systems of satellite navigation, global satellite communications and Earth remote sensing.

Sphere is a federal project aimed at developing space information technologies and eliminating the so-called ‘digital divide’.

“This is another area where we can make a breakthrough, because the quality of communications will be such that it can, in fact, replace cable communications and will not be worse in terms of quality and entire territory coverage, but it should be cheaper and more accessible,” said the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, launching the project four years ago. “This could lead to an absolute revolution in the field of communications.”

The project is gaining momentum this year. The project priority contractors have been determined, funding has been received, and the initial work on creating a multi-satellite orbital constellation has been started. Already this year, a demonstration spacecraft will be launched to test main technical solutions and protect the orbit and frequency resource. The Skif system will provide broadband Internet access services in sparsely populated areas with underdeveloped ground infrastructures. Also, with its help, the issue of providing communications for the Northern Sea Route will be solved.

“Such a gigantic country can only be connected through space,” said Dmitry Rogozin, CEO of Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, making a presentation at the Royal Readings at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University in January this year.

The Sphere project seeks to contribute to the technological development acceleration in the Russian Federation, the creation of an export-oriented sector in basic industries. Thanks to the project, the most modern communications and monitoring system will be created, including both current and advanced space infrastructures. Furthermore, the Sphere project, will create an environmental monitoring system which Roscosmos actively encourages international organisations to cooperate with.

“The project’s main objective is to improve the quality of people’s life and safety,” said Yuri Urlichich, First Deputy Director General for Orbital Constellation Development and Advanced Projects of the Roscosmos State Corporation, at the Congress last year. The Sphere’s equally important, fundamental objective is the sustainable development of Russia under highly competitive global digital market conditions.

The 15th International Navigation Forum is the central event of this year in the Russian Federation and the EAEU countries in the field of commercial use of satellite navigation technologies, a promising platform for the dialogue between Russian and foreign experts, business representatives and developers, as well as an effective opportunity to demonstrate their own achievements. Key players in the navigation and related technologies market will present their developments and solutions for transport logistics, insurance telematics, trade and industry, construction, agriculture and geodesy. The issues of using GLONASS/GNSS technologies for unmanned and connected transport, smart cities and smart urban mobility, control over the Arctic and other innovative directions will be discussed.

Over seventy expert speakers and about one thousand delegates from four hundred companies and enterprises will participate in the Forum. The participants will have the opportunity to engage in a direct dialogue with representatives of government and business structures, as well as scientific community on the issues of developing Russian and foreign navigation.

Sphere is a powerful driver behind the growth in the quality of space services, technologies, systems and products in Russia, and the Navigation Forum provides participants with the opportunity to visually learn about development prospects of the industry.

“We want confidence in the future to return to our industry as a whole,” said Dmitry Rogozin, CEO of Roscosmos State Corporation.

In addition to reports and discussion events, the Forum will host the Annual GLONASS/GNSS-Forum Navigation Awards Ceremony.

The organiser of the Navigation Forum is GLONASS/GNSS Forum Association.

The general partner of the Forum is Roscosmos State Space Corporation.

The strategic partners of the Forum are NP “GLONASS” and NTI “Autonet”.

The operator of the Forum is ProfConference.

The organiser of Navitech 2022 is EXPOCENTRE AO.

The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
